Our editorial staff must bow to the evidence : LA GROUGNIAT can’t only speak French any more. Letters from English-speaking country get to our readers service and our e-mail box is empty because of complaint for a English Grougniat.
Today, we take the decision : Grougniat is not the apanage of the France. Grougniat is universal. Grougniat is like a game to eclaire the entire world ! We will explain how to play at Grougniat in the Shakespeare’s language. You will find key words, basical rules and in the future we will try to give you the first way to follow for becoming one of the best Grougniste : HOW TO BE DELETERIOUS !
Don’t be afraid by words or technics you don’t know in classical tarot : you won’t ever play classical tarot once you know the GROUGNIAT (prounounce : gr-oo-gn-ao).
Then, welcome in the amazing world of the GROUGNIAT.
For technical and translation reasons, English used in this part of the article must be more approximate. Some example sentences will try to explain all these rules
WHAT IS THE GROUGNIAT
You know classical tarot for a long time, rules don’t have any secret for you :The small, the push, the guard. But do you know that there is something after that, a strange world without any doc : without guard and versus guard, even small and big chlem.
In the Grougniat, guard is the smallest base. A push is considered like a courageless action, because you are not a tarot’s player anymore, you are a grougnist… and it is important to never forget it.
But the principal difference, the way to know what a grougnist is is THE BOURRON (pronounce : b-u-r-on). This sacred object, which comes from ages of the history, is used to receive bets from the players.
In the beginning of the play, every player put 10 points into the BOURRON (20 for donor). At the end, if one who take the contract succed, he wins usual points, but he wins bourron’s value. If he fails, he pays other players, but he doubles bourron’s value too.
Example : “What ? 900 in the bourron ? I you get it with a push ? You’re really little d.. daddy !”
WHAT ARE KEY WORDS OF THE GROUGNIAT ?
· The oudlers (litteral translation, without any precise word in Queen Elizabeth’s language):
- The Twenty-One : The strongest oudler. Nothing can kill him. He’s the king of the oudlers and want to protect everybody.
- The small : Trump card nb 1. The most difficult card to protect. But when it comes at the end of the play…
- The apologize : it takes place of every cards. Good using of the apologize is one of the most difficult technic in the grougniat.
· The technics
- The TREANDISE : As in a bluff, You can try to win without any good cards. You just have to call the good king and perhaps have a little bit of chance. But you can’t have any friendship relation with other players to the end of the game, because TREANDISE is nervously difficult to use.
Example : “-Two trumps and no oudler ? And you try versus guard ? – Two of you spoke. Then you have good cards. The best time for a treandise”
- THE HUNT : A way to still the small. Try to get it with all your big trump cards. Perhaps it will pay. Perhaps not. But a good grougnist is a good hunter.
Example : “You don’t have see my hunt when I throw the 5 ? After 21, 20, 12 and I catch your small with the 2.”
- THE GROCER’S SHOP : technic which consists in not try any contract even if you have good cards. Then, you can be sure to make fall one who try contract. The bourron is doubled and you will try to catch a biggest bourron next time.
Example : “You don’t have spoken with 2 oudlers and 11 trump cards ? What a groceries !!!”
GROUGNIAT’S BIG MASTERS
Grougniat’s competition are called SESSION (pronounce s-a-ss-e-on). SESSIONS are playing all around the world, one or two times a week. All these SESSIONS are made into a world championship : THE TERNAY TOUR.
Six competitors are accepted into sessions. They are called BIG MASTERS (in French : les Grands Maîtres). After a long initiation, you can be accepted as a BIG MASTER, if you have total control of your playing. Panache and Talent are the two teats of the 4Grougniat.
Now, introduce the actual BIG MASTERS :
G.C DIALEY : Young, talented and beautiful, I won on the TERNAY TOUR 2006. Youngest player accepted as a Big Master, he’s the versus guard king and one of the TREANDISE’s creator. He makes the show and girls love him for that.
CINGLLETTE : His grand-father creates the first grocer’s shop of Monaco. As a tribute, he plays like him and never try something stronger than he can. And he’s usually one of leaders in the TERNAY TOUR.
MISS MESRINE’S BOURRONNE (French : Madame la Bourronne de Mesrine) : If perfidy has a face, it probably looks like Miss Mesrine’s Bourronne. Hard in the game, psychologically stronger than others, she reigns on session and other players try to not play against her.
REMY THE SNIFF (in French : Remy la Renifl’) : Talented and deleterious player, he’s actually in Nepal retreat. But when he will decide to completely come back, other big Masters must be careful because he’s always a terrible competitor.
DIANE THE HUNTER (In French : Diane la Chasseresse): She’s the hunting queen. No small can resist to her attacks. Always coming with trump cards family, she’s one of the best 2007 Player. Old record holder, she can win TERNAY TOUR 2007.
DEDE THE GRAPESHOT (In French : Dédé la Mitraille) : Oldest player of actual Big Masters, he try to compensate his natural feebleness with a big part of experience. His classical tarot knowledge is both advantage and weakness.
Now, you begin to understand what the Grougniat is. You probably won’t play classical tarot any more. You can translate all other articles, you will see that The Grougniat is more complicated that it seems to be and everybody can find his way in the Grougniat. And perhaps, you can become a Big Master…
