La Pinacothèque de Paris a ouvert ses portes le 15 juin 2007 avec une exposition des oeuvres de Roy Lichtenstein, jusqu'au 23 septembre 2007.
Roy Lichtenstein est un des artistes les plus représentatifs du Pop Art avec Andy Warhol. Il a principalement puisé son inspiration dans les bandes dessinées et les oeuvres de peintres célèbres comme Monet, Matisse et surtout Picasso.
L'exposition retrace une partie de son parcours avec 97 oeuvres dont les croquis préparatoires. C'est intéressant aussi de pouvoir s'approcher des oeuvres et voir le travail de collage effectué : le contour des personnages au ruban adhésif noir et les "couleurs" (points et traits) sur papier adhésif soigneusement découpé et ajusté.
Outre l'aspect esthétique, j'ai trouvé très intéressant son travail sur la décomposition des formes et des couleurs.
Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas plus d'oeuvres présentées !
* La Pinacothèque se trouve au 28 place de la Madeleine (juste en face de Fauchon).
Ouverte tous les jours de 10h30 à 18h30. L'entrée de l'expo est à 8 euros (un peu cher !).

For its great opening, the Pinacotheque of Paris is presenting some of Roy Lichtenstein paintings from June 15th to September 23th.
Roy Lichtenstein is one of the most representative artists of the Pop Art with Andy Warhol. He found most of his inspiration if the comics and in the works of famous painters such as Monet, Matisse and Picasso.
The exhibition shows some of his famous paintings with 97 works including his sketches. It is so interesting to approach so closely the works and see the great art of collage: the edges made with some black tape, the "colored" areas (with dots or stripes) cut in some printed papers neatly cut and applied.
Beyond the esthetic vision, I found his work on the shapes and colors very interesting.
My only frustration come from the too few works shown here!
* The Pinacotheque is at the 28 place de la Madeleine (opposite of the fine epicerie Fauchon).
Open daily from 10.30 to 18.30. The fee is 8 euros (quite high!).
